The decision of the locations in each country was determined by GGGI in consultation with the country counterparts. An initial screening of potential locations/communities for each country was carried out. The locations have been selected to align and dovetail with ongoing and planned renewable energy (solar and micro-hydro):
- Taveuni and Kadavu Islands and remote areas of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu Islands in Fiji
- Six Provincial centres in Vanuatu
- Guadalcanal Province and Central Province of Solomon Islands
- Central Province in PNG, with selected districts, wards and communities
National workshops were conducted to confirm and prioritize the target sites.
