GGGI Pacific in partnership with the Climate Change and International Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Economy, Fiji, completed community level trainings in selected Fijian communities under its project titled “Capacity Building to Strengthen Sustainable Implementation of Renewable Energy Technologies for Rural Energy Access”.
Buca village in Vanua Levu, Fiji was the fourth to receive the training among the 5 targeted communities in Fiji. Almost 550 participants attended the training during the 2 weeks in June 2022 on the topics of renewable energy and green economy. The training aimed to strengthen informed and inclusive decision-making by resource owners and local government officials for integration of Green Economy and Renewable Energy into Local Level Planning and to strengthen implementation of Renewable Energy Infrastructure for rural electrification considering gender and Inclusive development.
To effectively implement this project, GGGI Pacific team worked closely with local partners, developed 10 training modules with detailed trainer guides and learners’ workbooks and mobilized a total of 5 trainers to Buca village.
This project is funded by the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and scheduled for completion by December 2022.
