GGGI Pacific in partnership with the Department of Energy, Vanuatu of the Ministry of Climate Change Vanuatu, recently completed community-level training in selected Vanuatu communities under its project titled “Capacity Building to Strengthen Sustainable Implementation of Renewable Energy Technologies for Rural Energy Access”.
Vinmavis Malekula was the third to receive the training amongst the 5 targeted communities selected in Vanuatu. Almost 240 participants attended the training during the 1 week in July 2022 on the topics of Renewable Energy and Green Economy. The training aimed to strengthen informed and inclusive decision-making by resource owners and local government officials for integration of Green Economy and Renewable Energy into Local Level Planning and to strengthen implementation of Renewable Energy Infrastructure for Rural Electrification taking into account gender and inclusive development.
To effectively implement this project, GGGI Pacific team worked closely with local partners, developed 10 training modules with detailed trainer guides and learners’ workbooks and mobilized a total of 4 trainers to Vinmavis, Malekula. A training of trainers workshop was held in November 2021, whereby a total of 7 trainers were trained under the project, to prepare them for community trainings in Vanuatu.
This project is funded by the #Republic_of_Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and scheduled for completion by December 2022.
